Milwaukee, WI (Sports Network) - Kendrick Perry went for a career-high 30 points as the Youngstown State Penguins defeated the Milwaukee Panthers 73-65 in Horizon League play at U.S. Cellular Arena.
Perry finished 9-of-16 from the floor and 4-of-8 from three-point range for Youngstown State (12-9, 7-4 HL). Damian Eargle and DuShawn Brooks each added 14 points and Blake Allen dished out seven assists for the Penguins, who have won three of their last four.
Kaylon Williams tallied 17 points, six rebounds, and five assists for Milwaukee (14-10, 7-5) while Kyle Kelm netted 12 points and Tony Meier pitched in with 10 points. The loss for the Panthers is their fourth in five games.
Both teams shot 12-of-27 from the floor in the first half but Youngstown State was able to take a 35-28 lead into the locker room because of their three- point shooting, connecting on 7-of-15 from beyond the arc while Milwaukee hit 3-of-6.
Youngstown State extended its lead to as many as 18 points in the second half as the game was never in doubt.
The Penguins won despite being outscored 38-26 in the paint and 14-4 on second chance points.
