Final Score: Elon 84, Gardner-Webb 79

Boiling Springs, NC (Sports Network) - Chris Long netted a game-high 24 points as the Elon Phoenix defeated the Gardner-Webb Bulldogs, 84-79, in a BracketBusters event at Paul Porter Arena.

Drew Spradlin scored 18 points and pulled down eight rebounds for Elon (8-19) in the win, while T.J. Douglas added 11.

Anton Silver led the way for Gardner-Webb (7-20) scoring 21 points. Grayson Flittner sunk 18 points in the loss, while Stefon Johnson added 12.

The Phoenix held a 36-27 advantage at the intermission after connecting on 45.5 percent of their shots from the floor in the first half.

Elon went on to seal the victory after converting 22-of-36 at the free-throw line in the second half.

The affair proved to be a bit sloppy, as the teams combined for 38 turnovers on the night (Elon 21, Gardner-Webb 17).
