Moraga, CA (Sports Network) - Omar Samhan registered a double-double with 23 points and 11 rebounds, as the Saint Mary's-CA Gaels breezed past the Howard Bison, 94-46, as part of the Shamrock Classic at McKeon Pavilion.
Samhan also had nine of the Gaels' (13-2) school-record 17 blocks in the win. Mitchell Young chipped in with 12 points and Matthew Dellavedova had 11. Mickey McConnell did his part as well, posting a double-double of 11 points and 11 assists.
Paul Kirkpatrick led the way for Howard (1-12) with nine points and seven rebounds.
The Gaels held the Bison to a dismal 27.0 percent shooting effort from the floor in the first half and they raced out to a 43-28 halftime advantage.
In the second half, SMC knocked down 63.6 percent of its attempts from the floor, as it cruised to the 48-point victory.
SMC won the battle on the boards, 53-34, and also handed out 26 assists to just seven turnovers.
