Atlanta, GA (Sports Network) - Zachery Peacock was a perfect 8-of-8 from the field and made both three-point attempts to finish with 18 points, as Georgia Tech thumped Kennesaw State, 80-55, at Alexander Memorial Coliseum.
Peacock also hauled in seven rebounds.
Brian Oliver scored 14 points, while Gani Lawal recorded a double-double with 11 points and 10 boards for the Yellow Jackets (9-2), who rebounded from an overtime loss to Florida State in Sunday's ACC opener. Derrick Favors contributed 11 points and six rebounds in the win.
Kurtis Woods had 18 points to pace the Owls (4-7), who have lost three straight. Spencer Dixon totaled 12 points and Markeith Cummings added 10 in defeat.
Following a slow start by both clubs, Peacock hit a jumper and Lawal followed with a dunk for an 11-5 Georgia Tech lead. A layup from Glen Rice, Jr. extended the Yellow Jackets' lead to 23-10, and the home team carried a 27-16 advantage into the break.
Lance Storrs and Peacock knocked down back-to-back three-pointers for the Yellow Jackets to make it 44-25 with a little over seven minutes gone in the second half. Georgia Tech maintained a comfortable lead the rest of the way.
