GAME NOTES: The James Madison Dukes will try to build off their first win of the season, as they meet up with the NC Central Eagles in the final round of the 2k Sports Classic Benefiting Coaches vs. Cancer at U.S. Century Bank Arena.

The Dukes were finally able to get the job done last night, picking up their first win over the host FIU, 81-68. It was good showing for JMU, which was hammered in its first two games by Ohio State (72-44) and Murray State (71-43).

As for the Eagles, they are off to a slow start with just one win in their first five outings. NC Central is currently riding its second two-game losing skid of the season and that includes an 84-61 loss to Murray State just last night.

Today's game marks the first-ever meeting NC Central and JMU on the hardwood.

The Eagles turned the ball over 18 times and shot a lackluster 36.8 percent from the floor, as they were handled by Murray State last night. NC Central was also outdone at the foul line, where Murray State held a 19-7 advantage in free-throw points. Nick Chasten guided the team in defeat with 16 points and nine boards, while C.J. Wilkerson recorded a double-double of 14 points and 11 rebounds. Wilkerson leads the club in scoring this season with an average of 15.4 ppg and he is also grabbing 4.8 rpg and dishing out 3.2 apg.

The Dukes finally found their touch, shooting 52.8 percent from the floor and making 13-of-24 long-range attempts in a win over FIU on Sunday. JMU even went 12-of-17 at the foul line, while holding a 39-34 edge on the boards. Julius Wells headed the charge, as he recorded a double-double with 23 points and 12 rebounds. Darren White also enjoyed a big night, delivering 20 points and going 4-of-7 from three-point distance. After three games, Wells leads the club with 13.0 ppg and 6.0 rpg, while White adds 12.0 ppg.

JMU found its stroke last night and it should be able to continue its hot shooting en route to the win today.
