Lawrence, KS (Sports Network) - Tyrel Reed hit four three-pointers and was one of four Jayhawks to finish with 12 points, as No. 1 Kansas cruised to a 94-44 drubbing of Central Arkansas in the second game of the Hall of Fame Showcase.
Sherron Collins, Marcus Morris and Xavier Henry each netted 12 points for Kansas (3-0), which was coming off a hard-fought, two-point win over Memphis on Tuesday. The Jayhawks shot 56.9 percent from the floor, including 11-for-19 from three-point land in the blowout.
"I thought we shared the ball better and for stretches are defense was pretty good," admitted Kansas coach Bill Self. "We took better care of the basketball, that's a positive. A lot of guys got a chance to play."
Jared Rehmel led Central Arkansas (1-2) with 11 points, as the Bears shot just 25.5 percent from the field en route to dropping two straight since a season- opening win over Hendrix.
Rehmel hit Central Arkansas's only three-pointer of the game to cut Kansas' lead to 8-5 early in the game. However, the Bears went the next 12-plus minutes without a basket.
Kansas used a balanced attack on the subsequent 23-0 run, capped by a Henry jumper with 5 1/2 minutes left in the half.
It was 37-15 in favor of the hosts at the break, and the second-half storyline remained the same, with the Jayhawks ripping off the first 10 points.
Mike Pouncy stopped the run with a layup, but it was one of just four field goals hit by the Bears in the opening 10 minutes of a lopsided second half.
Markieff Morris hit all four of his field goals attempts for Kansas, logging eight points...Thomas Robinson had eight points and a game-high 11 rebounds for the Jayhawks, who hold the nation's longest home winning streak (43)...Pouncy and Chris Henson each had eight points for the Bears...Kansas next hosts Oakland on November 25, while Central Arkansas welcomes Western Illinois on Saturday... The 50-point victory was the largest margin of victory for Kansas since defeating Dartmouth by 51 points (83-32) on Nov. 28, 2007.
