Description: The Broncos and DB Champ Bailey have agreed to a four-year, $43 million extension. SOURCE: TWITTER
Insight: Elway threw a bit more guaranteed money ($22 million) in the deal, which may have caused Bailey's "I want to play for a contender" decision to change. Bailey also said that chances of a lockout was a big reason he decided to re-sign while he had the chance.

Description: According to Broncos Executive VP John Elway, getting free agent DB Champ Bailey re-signed is an "important priority." SOURCE: DENVERBRONCOS.COM
Insight: 'We've been working with Champ Bailey's representative this week on a new contract, which is an important priority for us.' Bailey put his Denver house up for sale, but that may have been a tactic on his part to get talks rolling. It's looking like there actually is a chance Bailey will be a Bronco in 2011.

Description: Despite earlier reports that the Broncos and free agent DB Champ Bailey had restarted contract talks, it's now being reported that Bailey has put his Colorado home up for sale. SOURCE: TWITTER
Insight: Looks like the only way Bailey stays in Denver is if the team uses the franchise tag, which we don't see them doing. The 32-year-old still has plenty of gas left, but the Broncos are expected to move towards youth. Expect plenty of suitors once Bailey hits the market.

Description: The Broncos are unlikely going to bring back impending free agent DB Champ Bailey. SOURCE: DENVER POST
Insight: There was a multi-year deal in the works during the regular season, but the team pulled it off the table. The Broncos are likely going to go younger at corner, which leaves the 33-year-old Bailey looking for work elsewhere. He still played at a high level in 2010, so he should have no problem finding a new home.

Description: According to his rep, the Broncos have yet to contact free agent DB Champ Bailey regarding a new contract extension. SOURCE: TWITTER
Insight: "There has been no contact ... since before the season ended." VP of Football Operations John Elway never commented on whether or not the team would welcome Bailey back, so it sounds like he could be on his way out. Even at 32, Bailey still played at a high level in 2010 and is still regarded as one of the best shutdown corners in the league. If he does go to free agency, he will cash in on at least one more big contract.

Description: The Denver Post reports that Champ Bailey said the Broncos will "have the upper hand on everybody else" when it comes to free agency.
Insight: The Broncos and Bailey were reportedly close to a 4-year deal during the season, but talks stalled. One way or another, Bailey is going to get paid this offseason. (RapidDraft.com)

12/28/2010 3:03:00 PM
Description: The Denver Post reports that the Broncos interim coach Eric Studesville said he would have a better idea later in the week about Champ Bailey's (heel) status for Week 17.
Insight: All reports are indicating that Bailey likely will not suit up this weekend against the Chargers. Bailey might have played his last snap with Denver. (RapidDraft.com)

10/21/2010 2:04:00 PM
Description: The Denver Post reports that Broncos CB Champ Bailey was not a participant in Wednesday's practice.
Insight: Bailey was knocked out of last week's game with a rib injury, but the prevailing thought was that he just got the wind knocked out of him. Vets often get Wednesday's off, so it doesn't appear serious, but we'll pass along more details if they become available. (RapidDraft.com)

9/10/2010 10:24:00 AM
Description: The Broncos and DB Champ Bailey are reportedly in "deep" negotiations regarding an extension. SOURCE: DENVER POST
Insight: Even at the age of 36, Bailey is still playing at a high level, but likely won't get a big payday considering his age. Playing with one year left on his current deal, Bailey should be a decent IDP option in larger leagues.

8/3/2010 10:51:00 PM
Description: The Broncos have not spoken to Champ Bailey about an extension recently.
Insight: Bailey is beginning to feel ignored. He?s going to have to make a bold statement with his play if he wants the extension. (RapidDraft.com)

6/28/2010 12:09:00 AM
Description: ESPN.com's Len Pasquarelli reports that Bailey won't give the Broncos a "hometown discount," saying that he might be willing to play for less once he makes the switch to safety. That switch isn't happening yet.
Insight: Denver faces a couple of sticky contract situations with defensive cornerstones: this one and an extension for Elvis Dumervil. Both are important, though Dumervil is much younger. Expect something to get worked out in each case, though it'll be interesting to see if either side blinks in the case of the 32-year-old Bailey. (SportsBuff.com)

6/27/2010 7:58:00 PM
Description: Champ Bailey is willing to take less money when he switches to safety, but doesn't plan on making the conversion for another three or four years.
Insight: Bailey has some serious long-term goals in terms of playing, but he's going to need to prove he's still got it in order to gain a new contract. (SportsBuff.com)

6/23/2010 7:44:00 PM
Description: Champ Bailey's agent admitted he is disappointed that he hasn't been approached by the Broncos about a contract extension.
Insight: Bailey has been a great player for the Broncos, but, at 32, the team has to be wondering how much he has left in the tank. Bailey is going to have to prove he can still perform at a high level this season to earn that extension. (sportsBuff.com)

6/12/2010 6:40:00 PM
Description: Champ Bailey, entering the final year of his contract, plans on playing five more years, "at least."
Insight: Bailey is still playing at a high level, but to still be doing so at age 37 seems unlikely. IDP owners should take this proclamation with a grain of salt. (SportsBuff.com)

10/20/2009 8:59:00 AM
Description: Bailey had seven tackles and a forced fumble on Monday night against the Chargers.
Insight: Bailey now has 30 tackles, one forced fumble and one interception so far this season. (SportsBuff.com)
