New North Dakota State coach setting staff

Fargo, ND ( - The transition of a new head football coach at North Dakota State continued to take shape with the announcement Sunday of six assistants on Chris Klieman's new staff.

Klieman is taking over for Craig Bohl this week following the program's third straight NCAA Division I national championship. Bohl is leaving to become Wyoming's new head coach.

Under Klieman, Tim Polasek returns to NDSU as the offensive coordinator and running backs coach after spending one season at Northern Illinois, while former Northern Iowa defensive coordinator and Western Illinois associate head coach Matt Entz has been named the new defensive coordinator and linebackers coach.

Former St. Cloud State head coach Randy Hedberg is the new quarterbacks coach after serving six seasons in that role at Southern Illinois, and Jamar Cain takes over as the defensive ends coach after spending this season as Wyoming's defensive line coach and defensive coordinator.

Current NDSU assistant coaches Nick Goeser and Conor Riley will remain on staff. Goeser is the defensive tackles coach and added duties as recruiting coordinator, while Riley will move to offensive line coach after spending one season as the tight ends and running backs coach.

Klieman, 46, had been an assistant on the three straight national championship teams, including the last two seasons as defensive coordinator. The Bison completed a 15-0 season on Saturday by defeating Towson, 35-7, in the national final.
