Drake sets 2012 schedule

Des Moines, IA (Sports Network) - Drake University has announced kickoff times for its 11-game football schedule this year.

The Bulldogs, who shared the 2011 Pioneer Football League title with San Diego, will play six home games.

"We are excited to get back on the field and work toward our goal of a conference championship," head coach Chris Creighton said. "We have an excellent schedule and some terrific home matchups for our fans to enjoy."

Drake opens the season at home on Sept. 1 by hosting NAIA member Grand View.

On Sept. 8, the Bulldogs will host FCS power Montana State in the return of former Drake head coach Rob Ash, now in his sixth year guiding the Bobcats. He is Drake's all-time winningest head coach, going 125-63-5 between 1989-2006.

The home schedule also includes PFL games against Morehead State (Sept. 22), San Diego (Oct. 6), Marist (Oct. 20) and Butler (Nov. 10).

The Bulldogs will play road games against Indiana State (Sept. 15) and PFL members Campbell (Sept. 29), Valparaiso (Oct. 13), Dayton (Nov. 3) and Jacksonville (Nov. 17).
