National League Game Summary - Milwaukee at Washington

(Friday, April 15th)

Final Score: Washington 4, Milwaukee 3 (10 innings)

Washington, DC (Sports Network) - Jayson Werth scampered home with the winning run on an infield bouncer hit by Adam LaRoche in the 10th inning, boosting Washington to a 4-3 win over the Milwaukee Brewers.

It was an adventurous bottom of the 10th for Werth and the Nationals. With one out, he hit a ball to shortstop Yuniesky Betancourt, who threw the ball low to first for an error. Werth raced to second base on the miscue and then stole third.

LaRoche then hit a bouncer to first base, but the throw home was a bit high, ending Washington's two-game slide.

"Baseball is a fun game sometimes," said Werth. "I think when we play fun and loose out there we play our best. Who knows what will happen any night."

Wilson Ramos went 2-for-3 with a walk and a run scored for Washington to up his batting average to .480.

The Nationals, who had just five hits, snapped a two-game skid.

Rickie Weeks went 3-for-5 with two RBI for the Brewers, who had a four-game winning streak snapped.

Chris Narveson allowed back-to-back bases loaded walks to Jerry Hairston Jr. and Tom Gorzelanny in the second to end his streak of 14 scoreless innings pitched. Danny Espinosa also hit a sacrifice fly in the inning for an early 3-0 Nationals lead.

"Walks will hurt you anytime and especially when you give them up to leadoff the inning," said Narveson. "Next thing you know the bases are loaded and then you're down three runs."

Weeks' two-run shot in the fifth with two down cut the Nats lead to one.

Sean Burnett entered the game in the ninth for the save and got the first two batters out before allowing a Weeks double and a game-tying, RBI single by Carlos Gomez who was thrown out at second base trying to stretch it into a double.

Chad Gaudin (1-1) earned the win pitching a scoreless tenth inning where he allowed one hit.

Zach Braddock (0-1) took the loss for the Brewers.
