Nuggets' Faried good to go for Game 2
Denver, CO (Sports Network) - Denver Nuggets forward Kenneth Faried is expected to return to action for Tuesday's Game 2 of the team's Western Conference quarterfinal series with the Golden State Warriors.
Faried, Denver's leading rebounder during the regular season with an average of 9.2 per game, sat out Saturday's 97-95 win over the Warriors in Game 1 as well as the Nuggets' final two regular-season tests with a sprained left ankle. The 2011 first-round pick originally sustained the injury in a game against Portland on April 17.
The 23-year-old resumed practicing on a limited basis on Friday and was in uniform for Saturday's opener, but was ultimately held out for precautionary reasons.
"I could've played, but they wanted me to sit out no matter what, no matter how anxious or how exciting or how interesting the game was," Faried told the Nuggets' official site. They wanted me to just sit out and rest and be ready that much more for Tuesday."
With Faried sidelined, Denver was outrebounded by a 55-45 margin by the Warriors in Saturday's victory.
Faried started all 80 of his appearances during the regular season and averaged 11.5 points while shooting 55.2 percent from the field.
