Description: New York Mets catcher John Buck has picked up three extra-base hits, including a homer, and gone 4-for-10 with two RBI and two walks overall against Paul Maholm, Tuesday's opposing starter.
Insight: If you sold high on Buck after he hit .351 with six homers and 19 RBI in his first 10 games, good job. If not, you've endured a .198 average with 51 strikeouts and five homers over the last 48 games. If you have held onto Buck, however, he should be active in lineups Tuesday against the Braves.

Cold6/15/2013 11:36:00 AM
Description: New York Mets catcher John Buck is not in Saturday's starting lineup.
Insight: Buck (.218, 11 HR, 35 RBI) launched nine homers in April. Since then, he's hit just two homers with 35 strikeouts in 119 at bats. Needless to say, he's no longer the hot catching value he was in April.

Cold6/6/2013 11:27:00 AM
Description: New York catcher John Buck shouldn't be in any fantasy lineups Thursday against the Nationals. He's hitting a dismal .167 in 12 at bats versus lefthander Gio Gonzalez.
Insight: Buck (.217, 11 HR, 35 RBI) launched nine homers in April. Since then, he's hit just two homers with 32 strikeouts in 99 at bats. Needless to say, he's been dropped in 13 percent of ESPN fantasy leagues over the last week.

Cold6/5/2013 10:57:00 AM
Description: Mets catcher John Buck is 2-for-13 (.154) against Washington hurler Dan Haren.
Insight: After a huge April in which Buck was a fantasy darling (.241, 9 HR, 25 RBI, 844 OPS), Buck's May numbers have brought fantasy owners back to reality. The unfortunate reality is that Buck owns a .234 lifetime batting average and a .707 OPS. Avoid this matchup

Cold5/22/2013 10:30:00 AM
Description: Mets catcher John Buck is hitless in eight career at-bats versus Cincinnati right-hander Mat Latos with three strikeouts.
Insight: Considering it's a day game after a night game and Buck's record against Latos, fantasy owners should not expect Buck to start on Wednesday. After a huge April, Buck's May numbers are well below expectations (.196, 1 HR, 6 RBI, .593 OPS).

4/30/2013 5:16:00 PM
Description: Mets catcher John Buck is getting Tuesday's game off after catching 15 innings Monday night.
Insight: Buck has been a major surprise with nine homers and 25 RBI in 87 at-bats. He has been in the league since 2004 and has never hit more than 20 homers or driven in more than 66 runs in any season. He also has hit under .250 in all but one season in his career.

4/10/2013 10:53:00 AM
Description: Mets catcher John Buck is hitless in seven at-bats against Phillies right-hander Kyle Kendrick.
Insight: Buck has never hit more than 20 homers or batted higher than .281 (career batting average of .237) in any of his nine seasons in the majors, so this early production (.393, 4 HR, league-leading 14 RBI) is certainly abnormal. Wednesday's matchup is unfavorable.

Hot4/9/2013 10:10:00 PM
Description: Mets catcher John Buck went deep again Tuesday, giving him four homers on the year.
Insight: We don't expect Buck to hit better than .240 or more than 20 homers, but he certainly has fantasy value as the Mets' cleanup hitter. He has 14 RBIs in eight games.

Hot4/6/2013 6:26:00 PM
Description: Mets catcher John Buck was 1-for-2 with a two-run double and two sacrifice flys Saturday against Miami.
Insight: Buck has a hit in all five games and two homers and nine RBIs on the season. He has a .236 average and .304 OBP in his career but he does have 15-homer pop and moved up to fifth in the lineup Saturday.

4/3/2013 10:38:00 PM
Description: Mets catcher John Buck went 2-for-4 with a homer and three RBIs Wednesday against the Padres.
Insight: Buck has started off 4-for-8 with four RBIs in two games. He .227 in 2011 and .192 last season so fantasy owners shouldn't expect much in the average department, but the veteran has some power and will play every day for the Mets.

7/25/2012 11:37:00 AM
Description: Marlins catcher John Buck is not in the starting lineup for Wednesday's game against Atlanta.
Insight: Buck produced decent power numbers over the past two seasons (36 HR), but is struggling in 2012 with a .177 batting average, .607 OPS and eight home runs.

6/21/2012 11:49:00 AM
Description: Marlins catcher John Buck could be in store for a big fantasy day Thursday against the Red Sox. Buck is 5-10 in his career against Daisuke Matsuzaka, who will be on the mound for Boston.
Insight: With that said, it's not a definite that Buck (.168, 5 HRs, 14 RBIs) will even play on Thursday. He was taken out of Wednesday night's game in the ninth inning because of leg cramps.

5/12/2012 11:59:00 AM
Description: Marlins catcher John Buck is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against New York. No injury, just a day of rest.
Insight: Buck has three homers this season, but a .192 batting average and .674 OPS should keep him out of most fantasy lineups. He has averaged 18 HR over the past two season so he does have long-term fantasy value.

4/4/2012 9:59:00 AM
Description: Marlins catcher John Buck should probably be left on your bench for opening night as his career numbers off St. Louis Cardinals starter Kyle Lohse are not good.
Insight: Buck has just one hit, a single, in 17 at-bats against Lohse for a .059 batting average with seven strikeouts. Overall, Buck is a low-end fantasy starter or solid backup with 15-20 HR power.

Description: The Marlins are close to signing free agent C John Buck to a three-year deal. SOURCE: Ken Rosenthal via Twitter
Insight: Buck enhanced his value with a big 2010 season in Toronto, but don't expect him to duplicate his power output playing half of his games in the Marlins' spacious park.

Description: The Marlins are interested in FA C John Buck. SOURCE: Ken Rosenthal via Twitter
Insight: Buck was solid in Toronto, where he played in a good hitting ballpark. If he goes to Florida expect his homers to drop.

Description: If the Red Sox can't sign Victor Martinez they will likely turn their sights to John Buck. SOURCE: ESPN
Insight: He's a great fit for them since he showed in 2010 that he can handle the tough AL East at the plate and behind it.

9/30/2010 8:05:00 AM
