Insight: A recent MRI revealed the bad news. There doesn't appear to be any damage to his UCL, which means Tommy John surgery won't be necessary. Either way, we wouldn't expect Latos (14-7, 3.16 ERA in 2013) to be back on a mound anytime soon.

Insight: Add this on top of last October's surgery to remove bone chips in his elbow and Latos will be a high-risk selection at this year's draft. He had one of his best seasons in 2013, finishing with 14 wins and a 3.16 ERA. Latos should start throwing again in about 10 days, but could have a delayed start to his season.
