NCAA Game Summary - New Mexico at Boise State

Boise, ID (SportsNetwork.com) - Jay Ajayi rushed for 147 yards, registered a career-high 105 receiving yards and scored two touchdowns as the Boise State Broncos closed out the regular season in style with a 45-17 rout of the New Mexico Lobos in a Mountain West Conference clash at Bronco Stadium.
Grant Hedrick completed 13-of-21 passes for 175 yards and three touchdowns for Boise State (8-4, 6-2 MWC), while Joe Southwick completed both his pass attempts for 65 yards and a score. Matt Miller was outstanding at receiver for the Broncos with nine catches for 111 yards and three touchdowns.
For New Mexico (3-9, 1-7), which closed out the season on a three-game losing streak, both Crusoe Gongbay (77 yards, TD) and Teriyon Gipson (76 yards, TD) had solid rushing performances. Clayton Mitchem rushed for 66 yards but he was just 9-of-13 passing for 52 yards with a pick.
The Broncos started the game with the ball and drove 65 yards in less than a minute, with Southwick capping off the possession with a one-yard touchdown pass to Miller. The big play came on a Southwick-to-Ajayi hookup for 64 yards, which landed Boise State on the 1-yard line.
The Lobos tied the score midway through the first half on an 18-yard touchdown run by Gongbay, but the Broncos regained the advantage later in the frame when Devan Demas ripped off a 15-yard scoring scamper.
The only score of the second quarter came on a 29-yard touchdown pass from Hedrick to Ajayi, as the Broncos carried a 21-7 lead into intermission.
New Mexico scored on its first drive of the second half when Justus Adams drilled a 42-yard field goal, but Boise State came charging right back with a touchdown less than two minutes later on an 18-yard rush by Ajayi.
Boise State continued to pile on in the fourth quarter, as Hedrick completed two touchdown passes to Miller (24, 13).
The Lobos added a 22-yard rushing touchdown by Gipson late in the game. Boise State's Dan Goodale added a 23-yard field goal before it was all said and done.
Boise State made claim to an easy victory despite losing the time of possession battle by nearly 13 minutes.
With a Utah State win earlier in the day, the Broncos lost out on the opportunity to play in the MWC Championship Game.
