Final Score: Charleston Southern 71, Virginia Military 65
Conway, SC (Sports Network) - Arlon Harper dropped a career-high 33 points to lead the top-seeded Charleston Southern Buccaneers to a 71-65 win over the Virginia Military Keydets to advance to the finals of the Big South Conference tournament.
Harper shot 5-of-8 from behind the arc and 8-of-8 from the foul line in the win. Saah Nimley helped out with 14 points, 12 rebounds and four assists for CSU (19-11). Paul Gombwer had eight points and 10 rebounds off the bench.
Rodney Glasgow also had a career-high in the losing effort for VMI (14-17) with 31 points on 12-of-23 from the field. D.J. Covington netted 16 points and Stan Okoye registered a double-double with 12 points and 14 rebounds.
CSU will face Liberty in the championship on Sunday.
Final Score: Liberty 65, Gardner-Webb 62
Conway, SC (Sports Network) - John Caleb Sanders led all scorers with 19 points, and the Liberty Flames defeated the Gardner-Webb Bulldogs, 65-62, in the semifinal round of the Big South Conference Tournament at The HTC Center.
The Flames (14-20), who were coming off an upset win over North Division top seed High Point, will advance to Sunday's championship game to take on the top seed from the South, Charleston Southern. Joel Vander Pol tallied 11 points and seven rebounds in the victory, while Tavares Speaks finished with 10 points.
Tashan Newsome and Max Landis scored 15 apiece for the Bulldogs (21-12). Tyler Strange and Kevin Hartley rounded out the double-figure scorers with 12 and 10 points, respectively.
Liberty held a 26-8 scoring advantage inside the paint and hung on to win despite going the final 5:30 of regulation without a field goal.
