(Sports Network) - The New Orleans Saints will host their final home game of the 2013 preseason when they take on the Oakland Raiders at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome on Friday.
Preston Parker caught a pair of touchdown passes last week as the Saints welcomed head coach Sean Payton back to the sidelines with a 17-13 preseason victory over the Kansas City Chiefs.
Payton returned to New Orleans following his year-long suspension for his role in the Bounty Gate scandal. The Saints stumbled to a 7-9 record and a third place finish in the NFC South without him at the helm in 2012.
Drew Brees played two series against the Chiefs and ended 7-of-10 for 65 yards. Before exiting, he led a 10-play, 74-yard march that set up a Garrett Hartley 24-yard field goal in the second quarter.
"In the game, we had the two drives. I think we are progressing and progressing the way we want," Brees said. "We have to continue to improve no doubt."
Luke McCown took the bulk of the snaps for New Orleans, completing 18-of-28 throws for 216 yards. He also tossed a pair of 2-yard third-quarter touchdowns to Parker, who had four catches for 43 yards and put the Saints ahead for good with his second score of the evening.
The Raiders also won their preseason opener as Matt Flynn completed 4-of-5 passes in his first game in Oakland, helping the Raiders to a 19-17 victory over the Dallas Cowboys.
Flynn was acquired from Seattle during the offseason to guide an Oakland squad which went just 4-12 last season under first-year head coach Dennis Allen.
Terrelle Pryor completed 6-of-10 passes for 88 yards with an interception in backup duty, while rookie Matt McGloin finished 4-of-7 for 78 yards and a score for the Raiders.
This will be the sixth all-time preseason matchup between these two clubs and the first time the Raiders will play a preseason game in NOLA. The Saints lead the preseason series 3-2.
