Jerome WilliamsSPPhillies re-sign pitcher Jerome Williams to a one-year deal. The contract is worth $2.5 million, but can get up to $4 million based on performance incentives. Williams posted a surprising 2.83 ERA in 57 1/3 innings of work, but should npt be expected to have repeated success, thus making him an irrelevant fantasy player.10/21/2014 5:46:00 PM
Josh HamiltonLFAngels left fielder Josh Hamilton's struggles will likely continue on Sunday in Game 3 of the ALDS.Hamilton is hitless in nine at-bats so far versus Kansas City and in his career against Royals starter James Shields, Hamilton is 3-for-25 (.167). It is possible Hamilton is still dealing with the injuries that kept him out of games for much of September. At the very least, he is rusty.10/5/2014 9:40:00 AM
Howie Kendrick2BAngels second baseman Howie Kendrick is a lifetime .538 (14-for-26) hitter against Royals ace James Shields. Kendrick has six extra-base hits against 'Big Game Shields' as well: four doubles, a triple and home run. Kendrick, however, is just 1-for-9 with four strikeouts in the series.10/5/2014 9:34:00 AM
Matt ShoemakerSPAngels starter Matt Shoemaker pitched well in return from injury. He was dealing with an oblique injury, but showed no ill-effects on Friday. Shoemaker went six innings, allowing an unearned run on five hits, while striking out six. Kevin Jepsen took the loss in the extras, giving up three runs (two earned), in 2/3 of an inning.10/4/2014 9:06:00 AM
Matt ShoemakerSPAngels starter Matt Shoemaker (oblique) has thrown bullpen sessions, but Friday's start will be his first since Sept. 15.Shoemaker was a stellar 16-4 with a 3.04 ERA and 1.074 WHIP, but there is no telling how he returns from this injury.10/3/2014 9:38:00 AM
Jered WeaverSPAngels right-hander Jered Weaver owns a 2-1 record in the postseason with a 2.61 ERA and 1.065 WHIP, but the last time he was there was five years ago.Weaver tied Max Scherzer for AL wins with 18 this season, though his ERA was the highest since 2009. According to manager Mike Scioscia, Weaver will also start a potential Game 4 on short rest.10/2/2014 10:51:00 AM
Mike TroutCFAngels center fielder Mike Trout is a lifetime .400 hitter (6-for-15) against Royals starter Jason Vargas.Trout led the league in RBI with 111, runs (.115), total bases (338), but also strikeouts (184). This will be his first major league postseason action.10/2/2014 10:30:00 AM
Jered WeaverSPAngels right-hander Jered Weaver will start Game 1 of the ALDS against the Royals. He will be opposed by Jason Vargas. According to manager Mike Scioscia, Weaver will also start a potential Game 4 on short rest. Matt Shoemaker will start Game 2 and C.J. Wilson will take the hill for Game 3.10/1/2014 8:32:00 PM
Josh HamiltonLFAngels left fielder Josh Hamilton (shoulder, chest, rib cage) will start in left field, according to Alden Gonzalez. He will hit seventh in the lineup, as the Angels hope to ease him back in. Hamilton has been out since September 4th, but seems to be ready to roll for Game 1 of the ALDS.10/1/2014 8:30:00 PM
Josh HamiltonLFAngels left fielder Josh Hamilton (shoulder) told Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register that he is ready to play in the ALDS which starts on Thursday.Hamilton took batting practice, threw long toss, and ran the bases without any setbacks the last two days. Trevor Plouffe3BTwins third baseman Trevor Plouffe underwent surgery to repair his fractured left forearm according to Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press.Plouffe originally thought he wasn't going to need the surgery, but a second opinion convinced him to receive it. He should be ready for spring training.9/29/2014 5:33:00 PM
Joe Mauer1BTwins first baseman Joe Mauer is not a good fantasy start on the last day of the season. Not many are against Tigers pitcher David Price, but Mauer is just 3-for-20 against Price in his career. One of those hits is a double while Mauer also has two RBI, four walks and six strikeouts against the Tiger lefty.9/28/2014 9:53:00 AM
Tommy MiloneSPTwins starter Tommy Milone threw a scoreless inning in his return to the mound on Saturday.Milone had not pitched since Sept. 2 due to shoulder fatigue and a neck injury. He did not receive another start, but the scoreless inning is encouraging. Milone finishes the year with a 6-4 record and 4.19 ERA in 118 innings.9/28/2014 9:18:00 AM
Brian Dozier2BTwins second baseman Brian Dozier goes 2-for-6 with a homer Saturday versus Detroit. It was his 23rd of the year, and now is hitting .244/.347/.419 with 71 RBI. Dozier has made for great value for fantasy owners in 2014.9/27/2014 10:42:00 PM
Eduardo EscobarSS/3BTwins infielder Eduardo Escobar has monster night. Not only did he hit his sixth homer rof the year, but Escobar also had six RBI on a 4-for-5 night. Not a bad way to end a season.9/27/2014 10:40:00 PM
Ricky NolascoSPTwins starter Ricky Nolasco wins sixth game of season. In his final start of 2014, Nolasco went six innings, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks, and struck out six. It has not been a good year, however (6-12, 5.38 ERA). Nolasco will look to rebound in 2015.9/27/2014 10:38:00 PM
Phil HughesSPTwins starter Phil Hughes turned down an opportunity to pitch this weekend to reach his 210 innings quota and earn a $500,000 bonus according to MLB.com.That's a head scratcher. Hughes pitched eight innings on Tuesday before the game was stopped due to rain, which ultimately left Hughes 1/3 inning short of 210 on the season. Minnesota offered to let him pitch this weekend to receive the bonus, but he turned it down. If you really don't need the money Hughes, I'll take a half a million bucks. In all seriousness, Hughes has been excellent this year, posting a 16-10 record with a 3.52 ERA and 186 strikeouts versus just 16 walks.9/25/2014 5:00:00 PM
Trevor Plouffe3BTwins third baseman Trevor Plouffe tweeted on Thursday that he will not need surgery to repair his fractured left forearm.Plouffe broke his forearm on Wednesday when A.J. Pollock's leg hit his arm on a slide at third base. He will not need surgery but will be in a cast for six-to-eight weeks. We expect him to be fine for spring training next year.9/25/2014 4:20:00 PM
Kurt SuzukiCIt is a small sample size, but Twins catcher Kurt Suzuki is a career .400 (4-for-10) hitter against Tigers starting pitcher Max Scherzer. The catcher also has a home run in his 10 at-bats. Prior to his 0-for-3 on Tuesday, Suzuki had hits in his previous nine games.9/25/2014 10:32:00 AM
Phil HughesSPTwins starter Phil Hughes pitches gem against Arizona. He only needed 96 pitches to get through eight innings. Hughes had five strikeouts and let up only one run, on five hits. He is now 16-10 with a respectable 3.52 ERA.9/24/2014 6:13:00 PM
