Dan StrailySPThe Cubs have called up Dan Straily to start Saturday against the Mets.Chicago picked up Straily from Oakland in the trade that sent Jeff Samardzija and Jason Hammel to the Athletics. He led the minors in strikeouts two years ago but had a 4.93 ERA and a 2.11 HR/9 in 38 1/3 innings with the A's this season. Jed LowrieSSOakland shortstop Jed Lowrie (fractured finger) played Wednesday, but is expected to go on the disabled list.Lowrie (.238, 5 HR, 42 RBI) tried, but the broken finger effected his hitting and throwing. Byron BuxtonCFTwins outfield prospect Byron Buxton (concussion) isn't expected to play again this season.Buxton, ranked as the first overall prospect in baseball by MLB.com and Baseball America, suffered a concussion when he collided with a teammate on Aug. 13. He also dealt with a wrist injury earlier this season and has played just 31 games. He's batted .240 with four homers, 16 RBI and six steals.
