Derek HollandSPRangers pitcher Derek Holland (knee) will be activated from the disabled list after his next rehab start Thursday, according to Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.He was scratched from his last start Saturday, but he's ready to pitch Thursday. Holland had microfracture knee surgery in January and has missed the entire season. He's recorded a 4.30 ERA and 22 Ks over 14 2/3 innings during his rehab assignment after going 10-9 with a 3.42 ERA, a 1.29 WHIP and 189 Ks in 213 innings last season.8/25/2014 8:51:00 PM
Shin-Soo ChooLFRangers left fielder Shin-Soo Choo will miss the rest of the season due to a bone spur in his left elbow, according to Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.Choo will need surgery for the issue, which he has been dealing with since spring training. In the first year of a seven-year, $130 million contract, Choo hit just .242 with 13 homers, 40 RBI, 58 runs, three steals, 131 Ks and a .714 OPS in 123 games.8/25/2014 7:48:00 PM
Yu DarvishSPRangers GM Jon Daniels indicated Monday that Yu Darvish (elbow) is unlikely to pitch again this season, according to the Dallas Morning NewsThe Rangers are 50-79 and have no reason to take a risk with Darvish, who is signed through 2017. "With everything else we've dealt with and how important he is, we've said once he's completely asymptomatic and the doctor clears him, we'd get another scan and then if everything is clear, we'd get him back pitching," Daniels said. "By the calendar and how close to the end of the season we are, I don't know that it will allow him to pitch again. ... It doesn't seem to make a whole lot of sense to me to take a risk when the MRI clearly shows there is something going on in there." 8/25/2014 5:08:00 PM
Adrian Beltre3BRangers third baseman Adrian Beltre is a career .133 hitter (4-for-30) against Royals starter Jason Vargas.Add in Vargas has been pitching "lights out" and Beltre will have his work cut out for him. Yu DarvishSPRangers pitcher Yu Darvish (elbow) has not resumed throwing and will not return from the disabled list on Monday according to Fox Sports Southwest.Darvish is eligible to return from the DL on August 25 when Texas begins its 10-game road trip in Seattle, but that will not happen. Yu DarvishSPAccording to Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News, Rangers starter Yu Darvish (elbow) is not expected to return on Aug. 25.When Darvish was placed on the DL, manager Ron Washington said he expected the right-hander to return when first eligible. Now, he said he's "backing off" the idea of Darvish being back for Aug. 25. "I'm not really thinking about the 25th," Washington said. "I just don't know what's going to be. The only good news is the one hit was a home run.Dozier has struggled since the All-Star break, hitting .202 with two homers in 142 plate appearances.
