Joe Mauer1BThe Twins will hire Paul Molitor as their next manager, according to Patrick Reusse of 1500ESPN.He was the favorite and will take over Ron Gardenhire. Molitor will be the third manager in franchise history.11/1/2014 12:05:00 PM
Trevor Plouffe3BTwins third baseman Trevor Plouffe underwent surgery to repair his fractured left forearm according to Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press.Plouffe originally thought he wasn't going to need the surgery, but a second opinion convinced him to receive it. He should be ready for spring training.9/29/2014 5:33:00 PM
Joe Mauer1BTwins first baseman Joe Mauer is not a good fantasy start on the last day of the season. Not many are against Tigers pitcher David Price, but Mauer is just 3-for-20 against Price in his career. One of those hits is a double while Mauer also has two RBI, four walks and six strikeouts against the Tiger lefty.9/28/2014 9:53:00 AM
Tommy MiloneSPTwins starter Tommy Milone threw a scoreless inning in his return to the mound on Saturday.Milone had not pitched since Sept. 2 due to shoulder fatigue and a neck injury. He did not receive another start, but the scoreless inning is encouraging. Milone finishes the year with a 6-4 record and 4.19 ERA in 118 innings.9/28/2014 9:18:00 AM
Brian Dozier2BTwins second baseman Brian Dozier goes 2-for-6 with a homer Saturday versus Detroit. It was his 23rd of the year, and now is hitting .244/.347/.419 with 71 RBI. Dozier has made for great value for fantasy owners in 2014.9/27/2014 10:42:00 PM
Eduardo EscobarSS/3BTwins infielder Eduardo Escobar has monster night. Not only did he hit his sixth homer rof the year, but Escobar also had six RBI on a 4-for-5 night. Not a bad way to end a season.9/27/2014 10:40:00 PM
Ricky NolascoSPTwins starter Ricky Nolasco wins sixth game of season. In his final start of 2014, Nolasco went six innings, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks, and struck out six. It has not been a good year, however (6-12, 5.38 ERA). Nolasco will look to rebound in 2015.9/27/2014 10:38:00 PM
Phil HughesSPTwins starter Phil Hughes turned down an opportunity to pitch this weekend to reach his 210 innings quota and earn a $500,000 bonus according to MLB.com.That's a head scratcher. Hughes pitched eight innings on Tuesday before the game was stopped due to rain, which ultimately left Hughes 1/3 inning short of 210 on the season. Minnesota offered to let him pitch this weekend to receive the bonus, but he turned it down. If you really don't need the money Hughes, I'll take a half a million bucks. In all seriousness, Hughes has been excellent this year, posting a 16-10 record with a 3.52 ERA and 186 strikeouts versus just 16 walks.9/25/2014 5:00:00 PM
Trevor Plouffe3BTwins third baseman Trevor Plouffe tweeted on Thursday that he will not need surgery to repair his fractured left forearm.Plouffe broke his forearm on Wednesday when A.J. Pollock's leg hit his arm on a slide at third base. He will not need surgery but will be in a cast for six-to-eight weeks. We expect him to be fine for spring training next year.9/25/2014 4:20:00 PM
Kurt SuzukiCIt is a small sample size, but Twins catcher Kurt Suzuki is a career .400 (4-for-10) hitter against Tigers starting pitcher Max Scherzer. The catcher also has a home run in his 10 at-bats. Prior to his 0-for-3 on Tuesday, Suzuki had hits in his previous nine games.9/25/2014 10:32:00 AM

Miguel Cabrera1BAccording to Anthony Fenech of the free press, Miguel Cabrera isn't likely to be ready for the start of spring training. We don't care as long as he's ready to go on Opening Day. Cabera had surgery to remove bone spurs in his right ankle in October. This note speaks more to the fact that even though he's only 31, he's played 1,819 games in his career and in the last 10 seasons he's played 157 or more games eight times. That wear and tear could take its toll.1/12/2015 4:04:00 PM
Tom GorzelannySPLeft-hander Tom Gorzelanny signrf a one-year deal with Detroit.Off shoulder surgery, Gorzelanny only pitched 23 times in 2014, but posted a 0.86 ERA and 1.429 WHIP. He won't have any fantasy value in Detroit as he hasn't in his 10 seasons in the majors.1/6/2015 11:45:00 AM
Eugenio SuarezSSDetroit has traded shortstop Eugenio Suarez to Cincinnati.Suarez will have to beat out incumbent Zack Cozart, but we feel that's likely to happen and Cozart's numbers have tumbled since his rookie season. Suarez batted .242 with a .652 OPS in 244 big league at-bats.12/11/2014 2:49:00 PM
Alfredo SimonSPCincinnati's All-Star pitcher Alfredo Simon has been traded to Detroit.Simon struggled down the stretch, but finished 15-10 with a 3.44 ERA and 1.21 WHIP. Id the "first-half guy" shows up (12-3, 2.70 ERA) its a good deal, but if the post-break guy is in a Tigers uniform he won't be fantasy worthy.12/11/2014 2:46:00 PM
Yoenis CespedesLFThe Red Sox have traded Yoenis Cespedes to the Detroit Tigers.Adding Cespedes to Miguel Cabrera and Victor Martinez in the heart of the Tigers lineup will make it very difficult on opposing pitchers. Cespedes is expected to play in left field.12/11/2014 2:34:00 PM
Shane GreeneRPThe Yankees have sent starter Shane Greene to the Tigers in a three way deal that netted them shortstop Didi Gregorius.Greene is a hard-thrower who went 5-4 with a 3.78 ERA and 1.40 WHIP. he had 81 strikeouts in 78 2/3 IP, but also walked 20 batters. He'll compete for the back end of the Tigers rotation.12/5/2014 3:15:00 PM
Victor MartinezDHFree agent Victor Martinez is looking for a four-year contract this winter according to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports.Martinez is 36, but he hit .335/.409/.565 with 32 home runs and 103 RBI in 2014. The Tigers would love to keep him, but they also have other free agent concerns in Max Scherzer and Torri Hunter.10/24/2014 5:31:00 PM
Joakim SoriaRPThe Tigers are expected to exercise their $7 million option to keep Joakim Soria in 2015 according to MLB.com.Soria did not at all live up to his hype when the Tigers traded for him in July. He posted a 4.91 ERA over 11 innings and pitched ever worse in the postseason. Detroit will have five days after the end of the World Series to make an official decision on Soria.10/22/2014 11:26:00 PM
Torii HunterRFTigers right fielder Torii Hunter indicated Wednesday he is leaning towards playing again in 2015 according to MLive.com.The 39-year-old seemed to be leaning towards retirement after the the Orioles swept the Tigers in the ALDS, but he is now leaning the other way. Hunter has not made his final decision. He is a free agent, but we expect him to stay in Detroit if he wants to play.10/22/2014 5:44:00 PM
Alex AvilaCTigers catcher Alex Avila left Game 3 of the ALDS on Sunday with a potential concussion according to MLB.com.Avila took a foul tip off his mask, which the catcher has gotten concussions from before. We wish Avila the best, but it does not look good. He may be done for the series if there is a Game 4 and 5.10/5/2014 6:44:00 PM
