Trevor Plouffe3BTwins third baseman Trevor Plouffe underwent surgery to repair his fractured left forearm according to Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press.Plouffe originally thought he wasn't going to need the surgery, but a second opinion convinced him to receive it. Tommy MiloneSPTwins starter Tommy Milone threw a scoreless inning in his return to the mound on Saturday.Milone had not pitched since Sept. 2 due to shoulder fatigue and a neck injury. Ricky NolascoSPTwins starter Ricky Nolasco wins sixth game of season.In his final start of 2014, Nolasco went six innings, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks, and struck out six. Phil HughesSPTwins starter Phil Hughes turned down an opportunity to pitch this weekend to reach his 210 innings quota and earn a $500,000 bonus according to's a head scratcher. Hughes pitched eight innings on Tuesday before the game was stopped due to rain, which ultimately left Hughes 1/3 inning short of 210 on the season. Minnesota offered to let him pitch this weekend to receive the bonus, but he turned it down. If you really don't need the money Hughes, I'll take a half a million bucks. In all seriousness, Hughes has been excellent this year, posting a 16-10 record with a 3.52 ERA and 186 strikeouts versus just 16 walks.9/25/2014 5:00:00 PM
Trevor Plouffe3BTwins third baseman Trevor Plouffe tweeted on Thursday that he will not need surgery to repair his fractured left forearm.Plouffe broke his forearm on Wednesday when A.J. Mike AvilesSSThe Indians are expected to exercise their 2015 option on Mike Aviles according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer.Indians general manager Chris Antonetti was undecided about Aviles' $3.5 million option a few weeks ago, but the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports Antonetti is leaning towards bringing him back.
