Joe Mauer1BTwins first baseman Joe Mauer had a three-run single in the second inning as Minnesota beat Pittsburgh, 8-5.On a 3-2 pitch, Mauer hit a ground ball to where the shortstop normally would be, but with the Pirates in a shift, the hit went down as a single. Brian Dozier was hustling all the way from first and second because Pirates right fielder Starling Marte was a bit lazy with his throw. It all led to a very unusual three-run single. Trevor Plouffe3BTwins third baseman Trevor Plouffe was 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in the, 8-5, victory over the Pirates on Tuesday.Minnesota jumped all over ex-Twins pitcher Francisco Liriano, who allowed seven runs in two innings.
