Alex CobbSPRays starter Alex Cobb allowed four runs on 10 hits over six innings in a loss to the Indians on Sunday. The 10 hits was a season-high, so Cobb was certainly hoping for a better start to cap off his superb season. Even with the tough Sunday, Cobb was 10-9 with a 2.87 ERA, 149 strikeouts in 166 1/3 innings this year. Cobb posted a 1.78 ERA after July 1.9/28/2014 6:27:00 PM

HotAlex CobbSPRays righty Alex Cobb had another masterful start on Tuesday. He allowed one run on five hits, but up until the eighth inning, it appeared the Rays were going to waste a fifth straight quality start from Cobb. Tampa Bay then scored five runs in the eighth. Cobb is 10-8 with a 2.75 ERA but his ERA is just 1.82 since July 1.9/23/2014 10:43:00 PM

ColdBen Zobrist2BRays second baseman Ben Zobrist is just 4-for-36 (.111) against Boston right-hander Clay BuchholzZobrist is not a recommended daily fantasy play. He's batting .269 this season with 10 homers, 48 RBI, 80 runs and nine steals. Remember when he was close to being a 20-20 guy every season?9/23/2014 1:34:00 PM
Evan Longoria3BRays third baseman Evan Longoria is a career .189 hitter against Boston right-hander Clay Buchholz with 13 strikeouts in 37 at-bats.It is always tough to sit a guy like Longoria, but if you have a decent option at third base, you may want to consider it. Alex Rodriguez3BYankees general manager Brian Cashman said Friday that he is "open to pursuing third base options" according to Newsday.CBS' Jon Heyman reported this week that the Yankees were interested in bringing back Chase Headley to play third. There is a high possibility that A-Rod will be playing at the DH spot, if that counts as playing, or possibility even moving to first base. The Yankees cannot count on him staying healthy an entire season at third base.10/10/2014 5:17:00 PM
Carlos BeltranRFYankees right fielder Carlos Beltran underwent surgery Tuesday to remove a bone spur in his right eblow according to MLB.com.There is no danger of Beltran missing spring training as he should be able to return to all baseball activities in 12 weeks. He had a bad season, hitting .233/.301/.402 with 15 home runs and 49 RBI, but he should be much better after healing from the injury.9/30/2014 8:22:00 PM
Alex Rodriguez3BYankees manager Joe Girardi told ESPN New York on Monday that he expects Alex Rodriguez to be the team's third baseman next season.Girardi went on to say A-Rod doesn't automatically have the job, but he should be able to be the everyday third baseman if healthy. Even though this news likely makes Yankee fans want to puke, the team could really use a power right-handed bat. That's if Rodriguez can be somewhat of his old self. Reality seems to have set in for Rodriguez, who must have figured out he stood almost no chance of winning this case in federal court. A-Rod will sit out the entire 2014 season as he serves a 162-game PED suspension. Rodriguez will not be reporting to spring training later this month.9/29/2014 9:40:00 PM
Michael PinedaSPYankees right hander Michael Pineda struck out 10 and allowed just one run and three hits in six 1/3 innings on Sunday to win the season finale. The Red Sox did not have their best lineup out on the field, but he would have performed well against the Boston "A Team" as well. In his last 13 2/3 innings, Pineda struck out 18 hitters. He finishes the year with a 1.89 ERA and looks to be the Yankees best starter going into 2015.9/28/2014 6:59:00 PM
Derek JeterSSYankees shortstop Derek Jeter singled in his last at-bat at the major league level.Jeter went 1-for-2 before leaving in the third inning on Sunday. He lined out to shortstop Jemile Weeks in his first at-bat and then hit an infield single in his second plate appearance. Manager Joe Girardi replaced Jeter after the infield single. Jeter finishes sixth all-time with 3,465 hits. Jeter will cap off his Hall of Fame career batting second one more time for the pinstripes. He registered an infield single before exiting the game on Saturday in a blow out. Hopefully, Jeter plays the entire game on Sunday.9/28/2014 5:52:00 PM

Masahiro TanakaSPThe best thing that can be said about Yankees starter Masahiro Tanaka's second start is that he didn't hurt himself.Tanaka was ugly, throwing 50 pitches and yielding seven hits and five earned runs in 1 2/3 IP.9/27/2014 3:45:00 PM
