Player Notes - Washington and Miami
Stephen StrasburgSPNationals right-hander Stephen Strasburg allowed four runs in as many innings against the Mets on Saturday.Strasburg missed his last start due to a twisted ankle and just didn't look like himself in this one. He allow three of the runs on a home run from Curtis Granderson. Hopefully his ankle and pitching improves before the regular season.3/29/2015 9:54:00 AM
Ryan Zimmerman3BNationals 3B/LF/1B Ryan Zimmerman will miss a few days due to a left shoulder injury, according to Mark Zuckerman of CSN.It's not his throwing shoulder, so we think it's still OK to draft him. Zimmerman is expected to be the Nationals primary first baseman this season where his production should make him a middle-of-the-pack fantasy value. He'll likely keep his multi-position eligibility which should help.3/28/2015 10:14:00 AM
Jayson WerthRFNationals right fielder Jayson Werth is still dealing with soreness in his shoulder, according to manager Matt Williams. This is on his surically-repaired shoulder, so it is definitely concerning. We would not count on Werth being ready for Opening Day.3/26/2015 3:51:00 PM
Anthony Rendon3BNationals infielder Anthony Rendon had another MRI on Tuesday which showned the MCL in his left knee is still sprained.Rendon suffered this injury on March 9 and he still isn't 100 percent. Washington hasn't ruled Rendon out for Opening Day, but there seems to be an increasing liklihood that he could miss the start of the season. This might drop his draft stock slightly, but owners shouldn't let him fall too far.3/25/2015 3:46:00 PM
Anthony Rendon3BNationals infielder Anthony Rendon (knee) has been cleared to resume baseball activities according to manager Matt Williams. This is great news, as Rendon has a couple weeks to get ready for Opening Day. He should have enough time to be ready for the start of the season.3/22/2015 3:10:00 PM
Jayson WerthRFNationals right fielder Jayson Werth (shoulder) could take at-bats at some point this week.More specifically on Wednesday or Thursday. Werth likely will not be ready by Opening Day, but he should not be too far off.3/22/2015 12:15:00 PM
Stephen StrasburgSPNationals right-hander Stephen Strasburg twisted his left ankle, according to manager Matt Williams. He did so in conditioning drills on Friday, and while the injury does not appear to be serious, it is still worth keeping an eye on. Strasburg will likely rest for a few days.3/21/2015 4:02:00 PM
Drew StorenRPNationals closer Drew Storen underwent surgery on his non-throwing hand on Friday. It was to remove the hook of the hamate bone, but it will not keep him out long. Storen is expected to throw after three days of rest, and will likely be ready for Opening Day.3/13/2015 4:42:00 PM
Anthony Rendon3BNationals infielder Anthony Rendon has a sprained MCL and will miss a few days to rest it, according to Chelksea Janes of the Washington Post.Everything went right for Rendon last season. He got his opportunity and ran with it, hitting .287 with 21 HR, 83 RBI, 17 steals and 111 runs scored. We will see if he can carry it forward to 2015.3/13/2015 9:48:00 AM
Stephen StrasburgSPNationals right-hander Stephen Strasburg will not pitch Thursday due to an ingrown toenail. Can you say overprotective? We would laugh if this at all effects Strasburg's ADP, but here at The Sports Network, we will monitor the situation anyway. Stay tuned for more on Strasburg's toenails.3/11/2015 4:35:00 PM

Jose FernandezSPMarlins starter Jose Fernandez will throw off a mound on Sunday for the first time since undergoing Tommy John surgery last year according to the Sun Sentinel.Fernandez is expected to throw 15 fastballs and work his way up in future bullpen sessions. Fantasy owners, however, can still not expect Fernandez to return to game action until June.3/1/2015 3:51:00 PM
Giancarlo StantonRFMarlins outfielder Giancarlo Stanton stood in the batters box with live pitching for the first time since he was struck in the face last September. He'll wear protective gear this season. The slugger should be ready to go for Opening Day. Stanton batted .288 with 37 HR and 105 RBI in 145 games last season. A repeat seems likely. 2/26/2015 2:46:00 PM
Martin Prado3BThe Marlins have traded for 3B/OF Martin Prado, RHP David Phelps, and cash considerations in exchange for RHP Nathan Eovaldi, 1B/OF Garrett Jones, and RHP Domingo German.Prado will likely mad third base for Miami, sending Casey McGehee to a reserve role. Prado could be a sneaky option come draft day.12/19/2014 4:56:00 PM
Mat LatosSPThe Cincinnati Reds have traded starter Mat Latos to the Miami Marlins.Latos was 5-5 with a 3.25 ERA and a 1.153 WHIP in 16 starts this season, but heads to a very pitcher-friendly Marlins Park and could be an undervalued selection this spring.12/11/2014 2:43:00 PM
Andrew HeaneySPThe Los Angeles Dodgers have traded for left-hander Andrew Heaney. He is the main piece the Dodgers will be getting in return for Dee Gordon and Dan Haren. Heaney was the top prospect in Miami's organization, and he will have a chance to open up the season in Los Angeles' rotation. Kike Hernandez, Chris Hatcher, and Austin Barnes are also headed to the Dodgers.12/10/2014 7:27:00 PM
Dan HarenSPDan Haren could enjoy throwing in pitcher-friendly Miami Park, but may retire instead of reporting.Haren was 13-11 with a 4.02 ERA and 1.18 WHIP. There is a lot of pitching talent on Miami, particularly if Jose Fernandez comes back and Haren doesn't have a guaranteed spot in the rotation.12/11/2014 3:01:00 PM
Dee Gordon2BThe Los Angeles Dodgers have traded second baseman Dee Gordon to the Miami Marlins, according to Andy Martino of the New York Daily News. The Dodgers will reportedly get top prospect Andrew Heaney in return, and it is possible Dan Haren could be headed to Miami in the deal as well. We will let you know once we learn of all the specifics.12/10/2014 6:52:00 PM
Jarrod SaltalamacchiaCMiami catcher Jarrod Saltalmacchia will sit for the finale.J.T. Realmuto gets the start today. Salty finishes 2014 with a .220/.320/.363 line, along with 11 homeruns and 44 RBI. There are better options at catcher heading into 2015.9/28/2014 11:11:00 AM
Garrett Jones1BMarlins first baseman Garrett Jones should be avoided in his Saturday matchup with Stephen Strasburg.Jones is just 1-for-18 with half the at-bats ending in strikeout. He's batted .248 this season with 15 HR and 53 RBI and does have eight hits in the last three games, but an extremely unfavorable matchup.9/27/2014 10:21:00 AM
Tom KoehlerSPMiami right-hander Tom Koehler picks up 10th win Thursday versus Philadelphia. He went seven innings, allowing four runs on eight hits, while striking out seven. He finishes the year at 10-10 with a 3.81 ERA. Steve Cishek closed the door for Koehler, with his 39th save.9/25/2014 7:21:00 PM
