Jerome WilliamsSPPhillies re-sign pitcher Jerome Williams to a one-year deal. The contract is worth $2.5 million, but can get up to $4 million based on performance incentives. Williams posted a surprising 2.83 ERA in 57 1/3 innings of work, but should npt be expected to have repeated success, thus making him an irrelevant fantasy player.10/21/2014 5:46:00 PM
Josh HamiltonLFAngels left fielder Josh Hamilton's struggles will likely continue on Sunday in Game 3 of the ALDS.Hamilton is hitless in nine at-bats so far versus Kansas City and in his career against Royals starter James Shields, Hamilton is 3-for-25 (.167). It is possible Hamilton is still dealing with the injuries that kept him out of games for much of September. At the very least, he is rusty.10/5/2014 9:40:00 AM
Howie Kendrick2BAngels second baseman Howie Kendrick is a lifetime .538 (14-for-26) hitter against Royals ace James Shields. Kendrick has six extra-base hits against 'Big Game Shields' as well: four doubles, a triple and home run. Kendrick, however, is just 1-for-9 with four strikeouts in the series.10/5/2014 9:34:00 AM
Matt ShoemakerSPAngels starter Matt Shoemaker pitched well in return from injury. He was dealing with an oblique injury, but showed no ill-effects on Friday. Shoemaker went six innings, allowing an unearned run on five hits, while striking out six. Kevin Jepsen took the loss in the extras, giving up three runs (two earned), in 2/3 of an inning.10/4/2014 9:06:00 AM
Matt ShoemakerSPAngels starter Matt Shoemaker (oblique) has thrown bullpen sessions, but Friday's start will be his first since Sept. 15.Shoemaker was a stellar 16-4 with a 3.04 ERA and 1.074 WHIP, but there is no telling how he returns from this injury.10/3/2014 9:38:00 AM
Jered WeaverSPAngels right-hander Jered Weaver owns a 2-1 record in the postseason with a 2.61 ERA and 1.065 WHIP, but the last time he was there was five years ago.Weaver tied Max Scherzer for AL wins with 18 this season, though his ERA was the highest since 2009. According to manager Mike Scioscia, Weaver will also start a potential Game 4 on short rest.10/2/2014 10:51:00 AM
Mike TroutCFAngels center fielder Mike Trout is a lifetime .400 hitter (6-for-15) against Royals starter Jason Vargas.Trout led the league in RBI with 111, runs (.115), total bases (338), but also strikeouts (184). This will be his first major league postseason action.10/2/2014 10:30:00 AM
Jered WeaverSPAngels right-hander Jered Weaver will start Game 1 of the ALDS against the Royals. He will be opposed by Jason Vargas. According to manager Mike Scioscia, Weaver will also start a potential Game 4 on short rest. Matt Shoemaker will start Game 2 and C.J. Wilson will take the hill for Game 3.10/1/2014 8:32:00 PM
Josh HamiltonLFAngels left fielder Josh Hamilton (shoulder, chest, rib cage) will start in left field, according to Alden Gonzalez. He will hit seventh in the lineup, as the Angels hope to ease him back in. Hamilton has been out since September 4th, but seems to be ready to roll for Game 1 of the ALDS.10/1/2014 8:30:00 PM

Coco CrispCFAthletics center fielder Coco Crisp left Tuesday night's AL Wild Card game with a right hamstring injury.Crisp tweaked his hamstring on a swing in the top of the 11th. TBS reported it could possibly be cramps. Crisp tried to play center in the bottom of the inning but decided to take himself out. Whether it is a strain or just cramps, it doesn't matter since Oakland has been eliminated.10/1/2014 10:01:00 AM
Jon LesterSPAthletics starter Jon Lester allowed six runs over seven 1/3 innings, struck out five and walked two in the loss to the Royals in the American League Wild Card game on Tuesday.Lester settled in after a rocky start that led to three Kansas City runs in the first three innings. Manager Bob Melvin likely stuck with Lester for too long as the Royals rallied in the eigth inning. Easy to second guess now. Lester was charged with three runs in the eighth, two of which scored after he exited. This was likely his last game for Oakland as Lester is a free agent this winter.10/1/2014 9:55:00 AM
Sean DoolittleRPAthletics closer Sean Doolittle allowed a run in the ninth to blow a save in the American League Wild Card game against the Royals on Tuesday.Doolittle did all he could but was not able to prevent the Royals from scratching out a run to tie. Pinch-hitter Josh Willingham hit a bloop single to start the inning. Pinch runner Jarrod Dyson took second on a sacrifice bunt, stole third and then scored on a sacrifice fly. Doolittle stayed in the game to pitch a scoreless 10th.10/1/2014 9:49:00 AM
Adam DunnDH/1BAdam Dunn admitted that despite the extra-inning loss in the American League Wild Card game to the Royals on Tuesday that his career is still likely over.Dunn plans to retire after playing 14 seasons in the league. Dunn had the longest active streak without a playoff appearance, which stood at 2,001 career games. He did not make an appearance in the game Tuesday, but Dunn told MLB.com he does not hold any regrets. "Let's not make a bigger deal out of it. I love Bob [Melvin]. He's one of the best managers I've ever played for." The 34-year-old is 35th all-time with 462 home runs.10/1/2014 9:39:00 AM
Brandon MossLFAthletics 1B/OF Brandon Moss hit two home runs in Tuesday's Wild Card game loss to the Royals.Moss hit a two-run homer to start the high-scoring affair in the top of the first and then gave the A's a 5-3 lead on a three-run shot to dead center in the sixth. Oakland tacked on two more runs to go up 7-3, but the Athletics were unable to hold the lead. Oakland led again 8-7 in the 12th but allowed two runs in the bottom of the inning as the Athletics officially capped off their season collapse.10/1/2014 9:30:00 AM
Jon LesterSPOakland left-hander Jon Lester is a career 6-4 with a 2.11 ERA and 1.043 WHIP in 13 postseason games.Lester went undefeated against the Royals in three meetings this season, going 3-0 with a 2.61 ERA, 1.161 WHIP and 20 strikeouts in 20 2/3 IP.9/30/2014 11:48:00 AM
Coco CrispCFAthletics center fielder Coco Crisp is a career .125 batter (3-for-24) versus Royals right-hander James Shields.Leadoff hitters are supposed to get on base to be effective and this one has a problem against Shields, so shouldn't be used in fantasy lineups. Crisp batted .248 this season with nine homers, 47 RBI, 68 runs and 19 steals.9/30/2014 11:44:00 AM
HotJosh ReddickRFAthletics outfielder Josh Reddick is a lifetime .318 hitter with three home runs and a 1.182 OPS versus Royals right-hander James Shields.Reddick managed just 363 at-bats this season, but did hit 12 homers with a respectable .763 OPS. He finished the regular season with three consecutive multi-hit games and should be a viable fantasy option in this favorable matchup.9/30/2014 11:42:00 AM
Josh Donaldson3BAthletics third baseman Josh Donaldson told Comcast SportsNet California that his left knee feels more stable than it did a few days ago.Donaldson did not run very much on Monday, but he is expected to be in the lineup on Tuesday against the Royals in the AL Wild Card game. His knee has been an issue for the second half of the season, but Donaldson has still been able to hit .280 over that time. His power, however, seems to have been effected as he has just nine homers since the break. 9/29/2014 8:31:00 PM
